Message from the PWR Chairman, Anne:-

Congratulations to both PWR and ORR for a fantastic turnout of 154 runners at the mobmatch last night. (78 PWR and 76 ORR)

This was a mobmatch in the true sense of the word as every runner counted for their team.

It was great to see Team PWR (group1-6) out in force in the club colours.

A big thank you to our marshals, supporters, timers, caterers and "logistics team." You all did us proud.

The event was fast and furious but also very sociable (outside the pavilion and back at Bradley's) great fun and very hot.

so with a margin of 1294 ORR were the winners and therefore retain the summer mobmatch trophy.

These are the provisional results of today's mob match:

Number of runners: Beckenham: 28 Orpington: 31 Petts Wood: 53

So counting the first 28 positions of each club the results are as follows:

Petts Wood: 1761 Beckenham: 2034 Orpington: 2135

This makes Petts Wood the mob match winners!

Beckenham had the first man and first lady.

Thank you to all who turned up including the 16 ORR who were new to parkrun - I hope you enjoyed it! And congratulations to the 9 ORR who achieved a new PB!

Hopefully the official results will concur with my findings!

Well done to all runners with most runners coming from Petts Wood, New Eltham had the 1st Lady - in Janet Cobby and Orpington had the 1st finisher and won overall due to a strong showing in the top 10 but nearly caught by PW with an impressive middle order.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and helped us successfully defend the "Laces Trophy". Special mentions go to Gavin Kitchingham as 1st man and Rachel McGuinness as 1st lady home.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the 68 brave runners who took part in this mornings Mob Match in the pouring rain and gale force winds ...  We managed to retain our title with 386 points, New Eltham Joggers finished second with 569 points and Petts Wood runners finished last with 740 points.

The first man to finish was Bryan Mailladet of New Eltham Joggers in a time of 25:10, whilst our fastest lady was Hannah Roberts of Petts Wood Runners in a time of 28:22

There are only a couple of weeks until "The Laces" mob match with PWR where we will be challenged for a second time since 2007 by our nearest running neighbours to a 4ish mile race around Petts Wood woods. Hopefully as many ORR members as possible who are not away on hols will come along and help ORR retain The Laces Cup.

So what's a Mob Match? it's a team race: Team PWR against Team ORR.
Each finisher is scored based on their position - first runner home gets 1
point, second runner home gets 2 points, third runner home gets 3 points and so on. The team with the lowest score wins. Don't worry about uneven team sizes, there is a special bit of tweaking that goes on once we know the numbers on the night and every runner makes a difference to the scoring. So as you are running you are really competing against the person who is in front and behind you at any stage of the race. A point can make all the difference. All ability levels will be taking part from both clubs and everyone had a great time
last time around!

At the end of the match we will go for some refreshments in the Daylight Inn, a chat and the presentation of the Cup!
Time : Tuesday 18th August meet at 7:45pm sharp (you need to register so don't be late) at the Pavilion in the Willett Recreation Ground, NOT at the Memorial Gardens. We will then take a little warm up run to the entrance of the woods, where we will hopefully start everyone off as close to 8 as possible.

There was a total 'mob' turnout between the three clubs of 68 runners, but as the club with the smallest number of entrants was 12 in total, only the first 12 positions from each club contributed to the points.
