Since 1998, the
Orpington 10k has been the highlight of our
running club's calendar and has over the years
raised many thousands of pounds for Darrick
Wood school. We have been granted with our
England Athletics Permit for the Orpington
Races, number 20090767
The 10k
race will be run under UK
Athletics rules and is a single lap
multi-terrain course through some of Kent's
finest countryside, starting from Darrick Wood
Senior School, Lovibonds Avenue, in Orpington.
Minimum age for the 10k race is 15 years. For a
map of the 10k course, follow this link.
The 2k route and Fun Run consist of one lap of
school field then one lap of Darrick Wood,
returning with a lap of the field to finish. The
fun run is open to all regardless of age.
Proceeds of all races go to Darrick
Wood Parents and Staff Association (PSA) (Registered
Charity No. 271541).

Prior to 1998, Orpington Road Runners coordinated a 10k
route starting at Goddington Park. held every year from 1990 to 1995. There is even
knowledge of an Orpington Ten, ran at some point
in the 1950s! Not surprisingly, we don't
have records going back that far but if you have
any recollection of these, please contact us so
that we can reflect this part of our local
running heritage! |
